Hi All: Joe's 137.777 kHz signal coming in nicely this evening with only minor fading, which is better than normal propagation conditions for this location....

Someone else tuning up just under MP, I have another capture at a lower sensitivity level in progress to find out who it is....
Also testing one of those $20 Pacific Rim TCXO's for the FT-817 sourced from e-bay. I started with MP at 137780.45 and it wandered down to .41 and now back at .43. The Isotemp OCXO in my LF converter also wanders slightly. I wrapped the new TCXO module in thin (1/16" or less) packing foam to help with the thermal management. I also noticed there is another small crystal around the back corner of the TXCO mount location on the FT-817 board ( near the SO-239 connector and metal shielded box on the main PCB) , so I made a small foam bootie for it as well. My furnace cycled on a few times in the three hours or so since powering on the FT-817 with the new master oscillator and I really did not notice a thermal shift at QRSS30 slow. Likely I will have to go to QRSS60 slow to have any thermal drift more noticeable. Great upgrade for the FT-817 for little money. Still waiting on my proportional xtal heaters I ordered last week from Khune in Germany to upgrade my FT-847 radios....
