[Lowfer] Mini whipmobile

Has anyone here tried the PA0RDT mini whip in a mobile setup for listening to long wave?
To use the vehicle roof as a "ground plane", how high above the roof would it need to be
placed on an insulated support?  I was thinking of trying it with a mag mount and a length
of PVC pipe, keeping in mind wind drag, low branches, etc.
