I've copied VE7BDQ occasionally, maybe 20% of the time along with the
other 3 or 4 PNW stations. I am in Phila this week while the system runs
at home, so wasn't there to experience any lightning effects. We did get
a couple inches of snow last night at home. Will have to ask the wife if
there was any typical thunderstorm activity in addition to snow. The
Vaisala site shows a thin band of lightning, now out over the Atlantic.
The antenna is an e-probe with 0.5m whip on 630m @ 3' AGL. It seems this
antenna works quite well on 630m, but is way too sensitive to local line
noise on 186 or 137kHz. There I found the small loop gives better
results.
