Not this particular time. That level is right at the threshold where I
could just tell that CW keying was taking place, but not quite "lock in" and
copy by ear. Were it not for the other loud signals in the passband, I
_might_ have been able to decipher a character or two...it looks about like
FRC does on the many days when I can only catch one or two letters of his
ident at a time, as was the case late yesterday afternoon.
Today, just before noon, there was a limited opening to Illinois. I could
copy most of SIW DFCW and had broken but usable traces of SIW slant for a
while, but did not see WM this time. Right at noon, even that went away,
and all that was left were NC (now drifted up out of my regular IF passband
due to the cooler temperatures), USC, EH, and sometimes RY. Up the band,
MTI and PBJ were audible and visible, and GNK was unusually good today for a
while. No trace of WV the past three days, who came in most every day last
month, nor any of the other CW-only beacons that I usually check for.
