Very exciting! As of my last check at the farm, XSH/12 had decoded in the
1630 UTC time slot, and XJM had come through as recently as the 1558 slot.
Sure wasn't expecting to see anything after my breakfast break, so this was
a pleasant surprise. Was originally planning to bring the computer back to
the house so I could upload to WSPRnet, but I don't want to disrupt a
session like this one, so I'll take the thumb drive down in a little bit for
purposes of transferring the log.
After the captures of XNI into the evening, I watched MP nice and solid for
a while (would've been fine even in QRSS3). Before dark, QRN at LF had a
median level around S1-S2, with occasional peaks above S3. After dark, it
picked up to a median value of S5 at 1750 m and S6 at 2200 m, with peaks
above S9. Even at 630 m, the median was around S4 with peaks to S9 and
above, so I didn't expect to catch much. But--the signals were much
stronger than they've averaged in recent weeks! XIQ was frequently S9, XXM
was +10, and even some of the more distant guys were well represented on the
S-meter. All 9 "regular" stations showed up in the same night, which has
never happened here before...plus a couple of anomalies. I'll report on
that later today. Must get back to the farm and do some battery charging
right now.
John
