Here's the results from later last night. As you see, SIW started into a
fade about 15-20 minutes before sunset, and was coming out of it pretty well
around 15-20 minutes after...but then the noise began to increase as well,
and it was just enough to wipe out the signal in the next capture 30 minutes
later. I let it capture a couple hours longer, to no avail. However, the
noise wasn't enough to harm MP appreciably.
After that latter capture, I monitored 630 m WSPR for a while. XIQ, XXM,
and XJM were regulars, but I ran into overly fuzzy bright traces on both XIQ
and XXM sometimes that gave me extra-long decodes and a few missed timeslots
as a result. Still can't figure out the cause of that. The only cure last
night was to turn the receiver audio all the way down, which showed both
signals as nice and clean MFSK on Argo, but made it impossible to see or
decode anyone else at the same time.
Am on my way back to the field in a little while to look for SIW again this
afternoon. If I can remember all the gear on the first trip this time,
maybe I'll get a slightly earlier start than yesterday.
