Finally got a chance to take the radio to the field this afternoon for the
first time in three weeks. Sure enough, there was SIW! Not much visible on
the QRSS30 Argo session, but the signal was much clearer on the QRSS60
session. There was a fade beginning just before sunset, so I let it
continue to capture while I came to town for supper. On my way back out now
to see what's what, and may try for either MP or EAR tonight, depending on
noise levels. Can't stay out too late this time, though, so there may not
be time to look for everyone I'd like to see tonight.

Also this afternoon, when I looked for HiFERs, I managed copy of USC, SIW
QRSS, SIW slant, MP, EH, and NC, with traces of what may have been 7P (too
few pieces to ID, alas). Just before 5PM CDT, I saw bifurcation on both SIW
HF signals for the first time, lasting about three minutes. The second copy
of the signal was from a lengthening path, about 1.5 Hz below the original
on slant mode, but closer to 2 Hz below on the QRSS signal, which struck me
as interesting. Anyone into VHF who's aware of any sporadic-E clouds this
afternoon, or alien motherships, or anything?
