I also have the LF Engineering L-111 VLF converter box but I cant get it to
tune accurately and it drifts like crazy. I can't recommend it. Maybe others
have had better luck.

The only thing that I use is a 50 kHz low pass filter between the output of
the DC coupler and the Mic input on my PC, but that isn't really necessary.
Of course, I wouldn't leave it connected if there were thunderstorms
anywhere near. An audio isolation transformer might work also.
The e-probe I am currently using is the Clifton Labs model, and if I
connect it as described above and unmute the mic input in the mixer
setting, I can actually hear tweaks and spherics from my computer speakers,
as if I were listening to a whistler receiver, except the low frequency
cutoff is higher, at around 5 kHz or so.
