Hi gang.
I just want to mention that Bob Raide brought to my attention that
hotmail.com must have been bouncing qth.net email for the last several
days. There were 8 people on the LOWFER mail list using hotmail.com
addresses, including Bob, and they had all been disabled for excessive
bounces.
I've turned on those 8 email addresses again, but if Hotmail is still
bouncing them, they will just be disabled again. Please understand,
the cause of the problem is NOT at qth.net or the LOWFER list. The
LOWFER list is running as it should and bounce processing is happening
as it should.
If Hotmail has stopped bouncing qth.net, then those 8 people will
receive this email. If not, they will continue to receive nothing from
LOWFER. If you are one of the eight, you must go to your qth.net
subscription page and re-enable any other email lists you belong to at
qth.net. Any email list that is active enough to have at least one
email per day has probably be disabled due to Hotmail bounces.
The usual cause of this sort of problem is either people who forgot
how to disable their remailer subscription, or spammers who forge an
email address at qth.net and send a lot of emails. Somebody complains
to Hotmail about spam coming from qth.net, and they add it to a
blacklist. The problem will exist until the operators of qth.net can
track back to the originator of the blacklist and get it removed.
Nothing we can do about it but live with it or stop using Hotmail.
Good luck.
