Dex, my SDR-IQs only tune to 30 MHz and my analog radios tune the same,
or in the case of FT-726/736s tune only the 6, 2, 1.25m bands, and 70cm,
and 23 cm bands. I use 2 meters as the IF for all my microwave
transverters. I did build an OCXO downconverter so I can receive the
microwave bands with an SDR-IQ. It's neat to see a 47 GHz signal on an
HF waterfall! But that leaves out the ADS-B data on 1090 MHz.
However, my ATV friends discovered the Fun-Cube dongles that amazingly
tune HF to 1.7 GHz or so. I bought some similar units for about $20! on
eBay and run them with SDR-Sharp, ADSBsharp, and adsbscope free
software. I don't have a proper antenna for 1090 MHz but find my
UHF-crossed Yagi satellite antenna does fine. Living near O'Hare airport
no doubt helps. The maps and all the information they contain are a bit
scary.
