John - what a fascinating report! As I followed along, I was about to
conclude that QRSS3 is getting pretty close to an audible signal and then
...you confirmed it! I am truly amazed that you could hear a 25W signal at
this time of the year. I guess I've spent too much time on 2200m and getting
used to how difficult it is to propagate an audible signal more than a few
hundred miles. Obviously 630m is something very very different. I'm looking
forward to learning more about it this fall and winter. One of my main
objectives is to try and create some two-way crossband activity between 630m
and HF with stations in the U.S. as well as VE. It would also be wonderful
to see more VE activity too, now that we actually have the band.
Your 'heard' ...like, really "heard" report, has really inspired me John...I
had no idea what 25W and a great set of ears at the other end could do on
475KHz!
Tnx for the great signal analysis.
