(Third time today I've tried to send this!!! The two previous attempts
from my regular mail address were rejected by mailman for "invalid HELO
name." Que pasa? Anyway, delayed about 9 hours, here it is. The
spots themselves have now been uploaded anyway.)
Have been dealing with Web hosting problems for a client all morning and
don't have time for a detailed followup on the night's observations just
now, but reported SNR values were indeed quite stable all night... from
0
to -11 for XXM and -6 to -16 for XIQ. It was obvious from Argo captures
that there were deeper fades in some individual transmissions, but not
nearly so many as Friday night. The average noise on the radio was
about S6
with excursions 3 units either side for most of the hours of darkness,
so
I'm very surprised that I got no other decodes! Did everybody else
wimp out
after midnight? Noise dropped even further before daybreak and the wide
line just above XIQ returned about daybreak. (Also noticed a gap in XIQ
transmissions beginning about 4:30 AM CDT, FWIW.)
Will upload the spots later today once I get that computer back to an
Internet connection.
