[Lowfer] Internet problems?

Thanks, guys. This information tells me two things:

* The inability to access our server is a local issue with
CenturyTel/Embarq, with whom I have been speaking now for an hour and
55 minutes...until the dialup connection itself broke. #$@! I had
just about finally gotten them to believe their DNS machines serving
this area are missing an important block of addresses, and now I'm on
hold while a new rep reviews the other one's notes.

* I need to get rid of those old advisory pages. When I first created
them, it used to be that the ones with .html (the original default
extension for all web pages, way back when) used to be the ones that
appeared preferentially if you only gave the domain name or a specific
directory. Ones with the .htm extensions (the relative newcomer
Windows/DOS-friendly version) appeared only if you had specifically
typed it in that way or had it in bookmarks that way. Unix and clones
treat those as two separate names, as do newer versions of Windows.
Something has suddenly changed. If/when I can access the server again,
I'll check into that.

Thanks again!

John
