[Lowfer] Mid day EAR

J.B & Andy (& All): I setup Argo on EAR before going out to lunch with Argo
hearing EAR just under the -40 range. Went out to lunch at the corner deli
counter and had a good chat with
a local EE and software gentleman who also is in the local Antique Radio
Society. Some showers blew up in the interim (even with no trace on the
local radar when I left home), so when I
came back the noise level st LF was quite different. Since I had Argo in
AGC mode, it essentially held the background level constant and displayed an
apparently weaker EAR signal as the
background noise increased. Good reminder this timeof year not to use AGC
in ARGO if one wants to assess changes in background noise through the day &
evening......

Last week or two I have noticed a deteriorating signal level on EAR as the
day progresses, not catching on immediately that I had the AGC on. For
awhile I thought perhaps my RAY6
converter had an issue, but it does not. Just more atmospherics this time of
year and the AGC masks their effect through the day .....

Hi J.B.
The 11 to midnight time frame turned out to be the best overnight.. I had
thought the signal
would probably pick up during the night, and have the typical sunrise
enhancement, but that
did not occur.. I stopped the grabber for now, and put up the best overnight
capture I got..
73, and thanks for the signal :

Thanks for the report and
grabber catch, Andy. It's 10:30 EDT as I type
this message, so there's just a trace of
EAR on the grabber if you squint.
