Dex, Bob & All: I had one QRSS60 viewer running on 185.300 just after lunch and switched to 74.320. I had the gain and contrast set at "60" for 185 kHz, had to drop down to gain and contrast of "24" to copy on/around 74.320. I'm not sure if the high noise is local or atmospheric, or some combo thereof

Anyway, there are traces of what I think was SIW near 185.3. Dex's signal shows up through the mid day noise on 74.32~

Next capture is a continuance of the prior one, which I stopped for a cut & past. Note the fade on Dex's 74.32~ kHz signal an hour before sunset. The noise descreases after sunset and Dex's 74.32~ kHz signal returns.

Next capture background noise still dropping, Dex's 74.32 kHz signal fading, XRS/4 coming online

All on my SW EWE transfromer, only a few dB F/B at 74 kilohertz. Antenna does strange things at 74 down to 10 kHz, sometimes I hear stations better on the opposite direction transformer, sometimes signals stronger with one of the two transformers left unterminated......common mode chokes not optimized for this freq range so I have a definite snake antenna effect....

Anyway, being far enough away from Dex to capture the late afternoon transition effect, I thought I would pass the info along.

Sorry for the thermal cycling effect on the signal captures, I'm not turning the furnance off anytime soon....:)
