I monitor the SID data locally with a cheap and simple SID receiver ,
that uses WWVB as the reference station. Not much to it and it sure is
handy.
I have compared my plots many times to the well funded projects at
institutions and from the government and it is amazingly accurate.
It was designed by Charles Wenzel, of Wenzel Associates. He streams the
data live from his location in Austin, Texas. Here is the live data link :
http://techlib.com/science/livedata.htm
There are links to the plans on this same page, or you can go to his
regular "hobby page" www.techlib.com and also check out the circuit
tabs while you are there . He has a lot of good information there, such
as a good tripler design from 10 MHz. to 30 MHz. which I use on my Icom
R-75 .
He also has a Yahoo group named : techlib , and he personally will
answer any questions or suggestions that you might have on his projects.
He is a VERY AVID DC through 2 MHz. SWL on many different modes and the
study of noise, natural radio, lightning, Schumann Resonance, virtually
anything below 2 MHz.
Usual disclaimer , no financial interest, etc. etc. Just a good friend
and use many of his designs or variations of them.
