Hi Andy,

I've never tried the "tree antenna" but I am using the root system of several trees as part of the grounding
of the feeder end of my Beverage antenna with good results. The most conductive area of a tree is that
which is just under the bark, so with that in mind, I cut away the bark in a circle which was slightly bigger
than the stainless fender washers. Like you, I sandwiched the copper wire between two washers and
snugged up the lag bolt nice and tight. I did this with three cedar trees which are all within a yard or so
of the box that holds the matching transformer for the Beverage antenna. I don't know how well it would
work with a tree that sheds its leaves, as there is no sap in the trunk over the winter, and I believe it's
the conductivity of the sap that makes it work. Good luck with your experiments!
