As I posted today in the LWCA message board, I've had a bit of bad luck
this summer.....


"Well, I hadn't turned on my receivers since probably April, so yesterday I
decided to fire everything up to make sure it was all operational.
Unfortunately, I discovered that both my Clifton Labs active antenna and my
Winradio Excalibur Pro SDR are non functional. I also discovered that I
made the (sure to be expensive) mistake of leaving the coax connected
between the antenna and the indoor gear. It has always been my habit to
disconnect that coax during my "summer break", but this year I forgot.

The damage almost certainly was caused by a nearby lightning strike and
came in through the coax rather than the AC mains because I have all
devices plugged in to a very beefy Isobar surge suppressor which was itself
switched off.

Fortunately my R75 powered on, and hopefully my Todd Roberts LF converter
wasn't damaged."

Regardless, I'm back. ;-)
