They must secretly be fans of Giuseppi Verdi ("That's Joe Green to you." - 
Victor Borge).  He proposed modifying the 19th Century French legally 
mandated "diapason normal" tuning down a few Hz so that the A above middle C 
would be 432 Hz.

A440 is the nominal ISO standard, but orchestras still set concert pitch to 
their own preferences.  Verdi tuning does produce a pleasant effect, so 
perhaps it is well suited to meditation...such as while contemplating the 
story of the Dalai Lama and the hot dog vendor.
