[Lowfer] 29.499 tonight OP2H/DS...

Tough night for everyone stateside due to lightning racket, but also
note that while the DF6NM deep-search grabber showed signal at 29499 Hz
no detections occurred. It was unusually warm here over night so that
kept the furnace blower off (a substantial noise maker in its own
right). When the loop is aimed East the blower noise is minor but with
e-probes it's another story. Managed decodes of WH1XBA and WH4XBA with
both antenna types, but the loop was much better and continued decoding
/4 until local sunrise (/1 shut off earlier).

2014-04-01 11:24:58 WH4XBA 1022km 29501.001Hz 6mHz -51.1dBOp 100% 15.6dB
2014-04-01 09:13:52 WH4XBA 1022km 29501.000Hz 3mHz -51.6dBOp 100% 17.6dB
2014-04-01 07:02:47 WH4XBA 1022km 29500.999Hz 3mHz -51.2dBOp 73% 17.7dB
2014-04-01 05:10:40 WH1XBA 934km 29499.000Hz 2mHz -48.8dBOp 90% 19.0dB
2014-04-01 04:51:43 WH4XBA 1022km 29500.999Hz 5mHz -48.1dBOp 95% 17.0dB
2014-04-01 02:59:20 WH1XBA 934km 29499.000Hz 1mHz -47.5dBOp 98% 18.7dB

Attached is a view of the signals via ARGO at QRSS30 around local
midnight, when both were at their best strengths. But that was only
around -48 dB SNR according to opds2h, not enough to allow regular opera
to decode with an eprobe antenna.

Interestingly, there was a false preliminary detection of GW8GLO at
0622Z. I would have thought the correlation pattern for that station was
sufficiently different from the pattern for WH4XBA that such an error
would not happen, especially since at the time /4 was displaying
decently on the ARGO waterfall. The error was corrected by the opds2h
software to the correct callsign by 0702Z.
