Bob & All: Audible here is EN90xn, I had to turn the visual gain way down (from 35 to 20) to get readable characters. Background noise by ear
seems like it's 15~20 dB higher in the 72~74 kHz range compared to 137 kHz. Noise much worse to NE, so I'm on my SW EWE transforner.
When MP is audible on 137 kHz, like you at present on 74.55 kHz, his signal is in the -38 range on ARGO, whereas XRS/4 is showing -50 range.
I'm guessing that most if the noise is florescent ballast sources from a small shopping plaza 1,000ft away to NE....
I'm running the EWE termination around 1900 ohms (175 ohm termination in shack through 11:1 transformer). Noise is lower at that termination value
versus 825 ohms (75 ohm resistor in shack through 11:1 transformer). Fixed 75 ohm carbon resistor and 100 ohm pot for termination.....
