Hello, fellow low frequency enthusiasts. I am back after a spring/summer
absence. Like many of you, have several hobbies, a job, a wife, and many
other commitments. To me, this means that I pretty much ignore my LF hobby
from April through August, and start "getting the fever" again around mid
September.

This year, unlike others, I kept all my receive gear upstairs in my
"shack", so all I really have to do is throw some switches and I'm back to
receiving again.

I was hoping there would be some news about a USA amateur LF band by now.
Anyone know the latest?

As some of you may or may not know, I had a lot of my land cleared last
year, so my "active whip" antenna is now much further from the treeline
than it was twelve months ago. Nevertheless, I do plan to raise the base of
the antenna from it's current fifteen feet above ground to thirty feet
above ground within the next month or so.

Other than that, I don't have any big plans to improve my receive setup,
since it performed quite well last season.

As for transmitting, let's see what the FCC has in store. I would love to
get back on the air. It's been years since I transmitted any RF other than
via my smartphone.

I am looking forward to getting back in the thick of things.

Just a few days ago I gave Dex his first audible CW reception
report on WG2XRS/5 72.4 kHz.

73, Doug KB4OER
