This afternoon was not terribly productive. USC was quite strong; so much
so, in fact, that the dogbones kind of interacted with the nearly 10 Hz wide
frequency shift to interfere with itself a bit. Sal's EH and N beacons shut
down a minute or so after I started watching, but returned abruptly about 4
PM CDT with a lot of downward drift for a while until settling into place.
NC faded in and out. There was no sign of MP or the SIW duo, and the only
audible CW beacon was MTI. On Argo, I could detect the DAID pattern of AJO,
but did not hear anything.
Right about sunset, I went out and tried again. This time, MP was visible,
but with USC straddling it. No sign of N, but for a little while I thought
I saw a ramp that could have been part of SIW's ID. It didn't last long
enough to be sure. EH was strong, and NC was much improved from the
afternoon. Aural copy of FRC was quite good at times. Thought I heard
SZK, but couldn't be sure...raspy QRM on the frequency. Same with GNK.
Lots of codar this evening, too.
Continuous S9 static on 1750 m and a little louder on 2200 m, so I didn't
see anybody there this evening.
