A while back I uploaded a 1968 CQ article about a LowFer beacon that was
on 166.25 kHz operated by Jim, then WA4GHK in Florida:

Last evening I had an hour long QSO on 160 meters with Jim who is now
NN4AA located in Malabar, Florida. Even with high QRN and there being
very few readable signal on the band Jim's signal was way above the QRN
and Q5 copy for the entire hour. Jim was using a 48 foot high T just
like he used with the LowFer beacon back in the 60s except the three
wire top hat has been extended. I think Jim could be persuaded to to
give us a Florida beacon next winter.

I have found a simple way to get my LF antenna to play well on 160
meters. Maybe having some coordinated activity on 160 like we use to do
before the internet days would motivate the old timers like Jim and Carl
of TH fame get back on the LowFer band.
