The wobble modulation isn't from WSM's signal. It's suspected to be
caused by the wobbling carrier of a Cuban station beating with WSM's
carrier. The wobble is best heard here in NC when WSM's signal goes
into a deep fade when the other carrier is present and wobbling.

The suspected Cuban station is called CUB Radio Progreso. One reference
I found indicates the power to be 200 kw. Here's a link showing the
location on Google maps:

Look at all those towers! There must be multiple stations transmitting
from this site.

If the wobble is from the Cuban station it should be heard very well in
south Florida received in CW or SSB mode. I'm going to contact someone
I know down that way to see what he receives.
