[Lowfer] Windows 8 .. big "thumbs down"

My buddy at work just bought a new laptop with Windows 8 installed. He
is not a "computer guy" at all and asked me to help him get it set up,
delete all the crap they put on it, etc.

I've been building my own computers and installing operating systems
since the late 1980s, starting with DOS, then the original Windows,
W95, XP, and Windows 7.

When he brought the thing to work, I was totally befuddled and
baffled. It took me a long time just to get to what appeared to be a
"desktop".

W8 appears to be made with touch screens in mind, but of course the
laptop he bought doesn't have a touch screen.

My advice? Stay away from Windows 8. After my bad experience, I read
some reviews online which all seem to agree with my opinion.
