WMS is still showing up every night , on the Austin , Texas grabber ( http://www.techlib.com/slm.htm ) , sometimes just for brief periods too. I can only recall one day/night this season when he didn't make at least a brief appearance . He often also shows up during the day on it for brief periods of time . The grabber is run by Charles Wenzel , an avid LowFER listener and builder , in the DC-2MHz. range .
WMS is not as strong , which appears to probably be propagation , as he was when he first got his beacon back to full power this season .
Just this week I have hired a person to work on getting my LowFER beacon antenna back up for me . He can only do it in his spare time , but made great progress earlier this week . Trying to catch him and the days when it isn't winter is a bit of a challenge . However after 2 years of not being able to find anyone to do the work , that I am not physically able to do , a few days delay are sure not a problem with me. I may return to the air by as soon as early next week and also once again have my HF , G5RV antennas back up , so perhaps we can once again have some LF QSO's and discussions .
Once the beacon is back on the air , then the receive antennas will come down for much needed service and upgrades , so this discussion has not only been extremely informative , but very timely too .
