Dex,
The single turn loop that you used to have is what I am using. My NS
loop is 250'X30'(max) and as low as about 20' in one place. I feed it
in the center of the bottom leg with a 9:1 balun and 75 ohm catv cable.
The EW loop is about half size of the NS loop. Neither use amplifiers.
The baluns are made from toroids scrounged from a computer PS and the
wire is 22ga insulated copper (telephone wire). The antennas are good
performers on LF/MF/HF but I have to wonder if the 9:1 baluns are proper
and if I could improve performance. I suppose that if I ever put the
effort into learning how to use a modeling program, I'd find out.
