[Lowfer] active whips

I was always very skeptical of active antennas . My engineering background made it hard to believe that less conductor could be better. About a year ago after doing some research I bought Jack Smiths antenna and installed it with his recommended common mode chokes. It is the best thing I have done in a long time. I generally hear anything that others can hear. I am sure that it does not compete with long Beverage antennas but it does a heck of a job for me.
I also know that Doug uses one also and he does as well hearing as about anyone that I know off.
