Hi Doug, and all:

We all have our favorites, and preferences, in all things .. hi - hi
Personally, I think OPERA was given a " bum wrap " due to all the
fuss over the " ROS " mode issue.. I have used, and AM using right now,
OPERA on 160 meters, I have been for the past several nights since
getting my antenna resonant again.. It is about as simple a mode as
you can get..Just On / Off keying in an encoded form, to be decoded
on the receiving end by the software.. It is ( A Lot ) more power
amp friendly than WSPR is due to its encoding scheme, and that is
the main reason I like to run it.. The mode doesn't overwork my radio.
I've had good sucess with it, easily covering just shy of 1200 miles
into VE4 land with 10 watts to the antenna.. I enjoy using OPERA myself,
but again; everyone has their own preferences.. Ain't it great how
much variety we have to choose from ??

Happy HAM-ing everyone:

Andy - KU4XR
