Anything's worth a try, Bill, but be aware there are two big factors that 
will affect your chances of receiving anyone at LF, apart from the 
receiver's own properties.  First is how much locally originated noise will 
be picked up at LF by your antenna, and the other is whether you can match 
the antenna's impedance to something approximating 50 ohms at the 
frequencies of interest.  Best of luck.
