Thanks for the excellent links. Might have been instructive to have that
helpful compendium sooner, though, as there have been a lot of us trying to
learn about the software recently. Just using it--or trying to--isn't as
instructive by itself as one might hope.

(I have to wonder why you repeatedly keep implying I've never used software
I comment upon, just because I don't jump on the bandwagon and buy into
prevailing hoopla? I haven't seen anything yet that leads me to spend a lot
of time on OPDS, but a misstatement based on incomplete information does not
constitute total ignorance. Do you recall that I refuted a couple of things
you said about WSPR by citing Joe Taylor's own words on noise bandwidth
measurement and how its deep search function works _without_ ever once
resorting to personal characterizations? I would never intentionally
disparage your achievements or intelligence... nor that of any other member
of the group... based on a mere difference of opinion, let alone factual
matters that can be easily corrected. If we disagree on the merits of
something, that does not make either of us a bad person. There's no need to
choose sides. This is not an adversarial setting, and it seems to me we
should all do each other the courtesy of remembering that.)

Now...granted, most insiders seem to have been careful not to refer to OPDS
hits as decodes in the material you cite. But it has happened here. That's
why, upon realizing Andy's correction actually supported my initial
skepticism, I offered the opinion we should avoid the misleading term
"decodes"--nothing less and nothing more than that.
