I don't know why it should come across that way.  I'm only concerned that 
users sometimes seem to attach more magic to these modes than there is. 
Foreknowledge of what is being sent enables _identification_ with fair 
certainty, but all I'm saying is, it's not the same thing as _decoding_ 
real-world information whose contents you don't already know.  I wish there 
were more emphasis on that aspect of digital communication among 
experimenters.

I sure hope NASA's signal processing techniques aren't just telling them 
things they expect to hear. :)
