DK7FC again decoded using the deep search opera software, as soon after
local sunset as ever. Unfortunately, the TA propagation disappeared
quickly after 0130Z, rather than building:

2013-12-08 01:31:13 DK7FC 7041km 137572.916Hz 6mHz -46.3dBOp 100% 16.2dB
2013-12-08 00:56:11 DK7FC 7041km 137572.915Hz 12mHz -44.2dBOp 88% 19.7dB

restart opds2h5
2013-12-08 00:56:12 DK7FC 7041km 137572.915Hz 3mHz -43.3dBOp 58% 15.3dB

The opds software errored out after the first decode and spit out some
German text. A Google translation of it after the fact indicated that
hitting any key might initiate a print and continue operation. So
perhaps hard restart isn't needed. Will query Markus, DF6NM to see what
the problem is.

Recently bought a HP3500 Windows 7, 64 bit PC. This is to replace an old
DELL Windows XP SP2 PC that has been showing it's age. Unfortunately,
the opds code won't run on a 64 bit machine (trying all the
compatibility mode choices doesn't help). As a workaround, Windows XP
mode was loaded and the opds code was run inside an XP virtual machine.
That did allow the SDR-IQ SpectraVue software to run, along with Spec
Lab and Virtual Audio Cable. However, the USB connection to the SDR-IQ
froze fairly quickly (that had been a problem even running XP but
version 3 of SpectraVue had solved it) so it's not really a solution
unless some other receiver is used. Hopefully a 64 bit version of the
opds DOS code will be developed.
