For some unexplainable reason, I captured the upper portion of the
VLF range last night, until about 12:30 pm local ( 17:30 UTC )..
For what it's worth, I was surprised that around 2 am ( 07 UTC ),
I had 12 signals showing in the waterfall.. 4 of them Look Like a
signal, but are in a place where there is no station identifier at the
top of the graph.. I am riddled with AC, and TV, and probably lots
of QRN from the numerous wall chargers that stay plugged in all
the time..( I unplug them, and ...Oh well, you know the rest of that story )..
I am Hopeing ! to get an antenna arrangement that at the least stands
a tiny chance of hearing SAQ on Christmas Eve.. I have tried using
a Degaussing Coil ( got that idea from Dex ) but not much luck
with it.. The antenna arrangement last night was my 160 Dipole,
with a loading coil, and air variables to ground, and run thru a
capacitor, with a resistor going to ground to make a crude High Pass filter..
Even though it's crude; it does kill A LOT of the AC buzz...
A comment on the Degaussing Coil.. It measures 17.5 milliHenries,
and I looked for Bob, and Dex with it last night.. It is very easy to
hang an air variable to ground and tune 74 KHz with it.. No static crashes,
just nice strong signals from both stations... UNTIL.. something in the
house cycled on, and destroyed reception..
If you have read this far, and have any interest in looking; I uploaded the
best of the night screen capture, with all 12 signals showing on screen..
