[Lowfer] Icom R75 Frequency Jumps

We are fortunate that Charles Wenzel's very avid hobby is primarily
designing , building , and listening from DC through 2 MHz. when he is
home in his lab .

He always has some neat projects going related to those frequencies
aimed at being simple enough for the home builder to construct and use
readily available parts .

He from time to time has been considering putting a part 15 lowfer and
medfer beacon on the air .

He also is interested when people are experimenting on "new" frequency
groups in the ranges below 2 MHz . He has a grabber that is online and
is always ready to listen for a new station or new band if I just send
him the frequency to park one of the grabbers on .

We have been discussing the 76 kHz. area work that is going on and he
will put a grabber on that "band" if we have a little more information
on the "watering hole" and if there are any particular beacons running
any certain schedule . I was out of town often and missed some of the
information about the stations and their status over the past month. Is
there a place or a group that we can monitor for more information about
the activity down there ?

I will put a grabber on from here in Northeast Oklahoma too , IF we ever
get rid of the daily summer thunderstorms and noise .

Naturally I use a lot of Wenzel based designs or projects that have been
built by me , with input from Charles for possible improvements . One of
my receivers is the R-75 using Jay's information and one of my Wenzel 10
MHz. OCXO's and the Wenzel tripler design which is also GPS disciplined .

Charles's grabber is located in Austin , TX. Just tell us a time and
frequency .

Hopefully soon I will get around to applying for a part 5 license again
to be able to also get on the "rest of the experimental bands" and catch
up with most of the rest of the group .

It works great for use in front of a Class D transmitter to convert various VFO signals. Uses a couple of 2N3906s and a 9 volt TO92 regulator.

This needs to be kept to an absolute minimum - unless you like phase noise on your LO ;~0. That's why I went with Charles Wenzel's circuit ... Charles is the 'wizzard' of low phase noise.
