Thanks for the information Paul , I knew you had some issues and wasn't sure if you had resolved them yet . You are about the
closest to Charles , other than maybe me , to use to tweak his design .
Has anyone contacted the company and asked them to modify their code to allow the DDS to run below 500 kHz. ? Looks like
an interesting rig at a decent price that could be built for 630 Meters , if you started out with that in mind . Might have to order one
and see about putting it down there .
Hans Summers has a new Ultimate QRSS Beacon , that he opened the firmware up on to go below 500 kHz. after I chatted with
him . There are a lot of possibilities for this project too , since it has several digital modes built in and a person could probably
just change the low pass filters and provide an accurate frequency source and put it on at least 630 meters . You could probably
do it without modifying the board . It also has a 1 pps input so it can be run with a GPS like it is and it sends WSPR so it will also
transmit your maidenhead locator from the GPS . Here is a link to the information on it :
http://www.hanssummers.com/qrsskitmm.html
Since there are some GPS engines in the $25 range now , frequency accuracy is easily within the range of most people now . Hans
also has a page on his web site that details many GPS's and their use with it .
A friend and I ordered a couple each of those $ 6 , shipping included , DDS's from the auction place . They have just come in . He
modified the code in a simple controller yesterday and said they will go down almost to DC . Will get them on my Spectrum Analyzer
here in a week or so and play around with them a little and see how they perform on our frequencies .
Just a few new "toys" I thought might be of interest to some of the people on here .
Please let me know when you get your near field power back up , I am working on improving my receiving setup , so if I get to where
I can hear you , I know I will have made some improvements .
