[Lowfer] VLF Alpha stations

I have always had better luck hearing the Alphas at night, especially a
long
cold winter night. My Alpha reception seemed to parallel my low-band
VLF reception from Europe. That is, reception was always better in a
path of darkness to my location from the transmitter, which was almost
always early evening hours on the East Coast USA until about 2 AM my
local time.

I have always seen large swings in signal strength on European
VLF stations between night and day. That is one problem with the SAQ
transmissions being early in the morning East Coast time when the sun is
already up in Europe but still dark in the USA. That seems to be the worst
time for VLF propagation
from Europe to USA. VLF Propagation seems to improve a bit when both
Europe and the USA are in sunlight at the same time though.

Curious about propagation at those frequencies. Do you hear the Alphas in
the daytime, or only at night. Do you hear them most nights, or only part
of the time?
