Just for the fun of posting it.. Static is a beast tonight, TA on 136 KHz wasn't
gonna happen. I dropped in on " MP " to see how he was coming thru.. The signal
was coming out of a fade in the far left of the capture.. The 3 " MP " sequences
were all very close to equal signal strength.. I have a software compressor/limiter
feeding audio to Spectran.. You can see in the capture the difference with each
compression level setting.. I set the peak limiting at 3 dB and left it there.. Each
time I increased the compression level; I readjusted the stage gain to keep the
audio level into Spectran consistent... It is not a trick of the eye; look at the
" snow " in the waterfall from left to right side.. You will see a subtle decrease
in the snow intensity level... The compressor reduced the background noise,
along with leveling the audio from " MP " for a bolder line in the waterfall..
Of course the software can't do anything about the signal fading under the noise,
but when it's there; it does make it stand out... Just having fun here tonite, for
what it's worth...
