WE2XGR/2 will be transmitting a frequency and sampling rate calibration test signal tonight from
0000 - 0200Z. The intent is to supply an accurate audio signal for sound card calibration. The AM
signal will be generated using two GPS disciplined signal generators ... one generating the carrier
(506.5 kHz) and another generating the modulating tone (800Hz). To extract the accurate 800 Hz tone
an AM detector (not product detector) should be used.
Will be interested in receiving reports on the usefulness of this signal. Also interested in hearing
about sky wave anomolies with the cal signal. Don't be surprised if you have good copy of the 800 Hz
tone in WOLF, MultiPSK, Argo etc even though nothing is audible in the speaker. WOLF GUI, once
cal'ed, accurately reads out to 3 decimal places using the Mode > Frequency Measurement facility
(also used in the calibration process).
Reports are appreciated.
