Hi John,
Its the Ellsworth NH location running on the vertical.
A sapling tree had fallen down taking down one of the ropes holding up the
capacity hat and the vertical wire.
The loading coil which was supposed to be suspended in the air was on the
ground and the bucket which was supposed to form a weather cover was upside
down, filled with water (and the loading coil !)
I had planned to spend most of the day up there but due to car trouble I
only had about an hour.
Now the mystery is why are you copying it now?
I contacted Jay after putting the wire up and he ad nil copy.
I copied the beacon while I was on site, my thought is that there is an
intermitent connection in the final (or power going to the final).
Alternatively the high-Q vertical is significantly detuned and the signal is
only traveling as far as Raymond?
It is uncertain how long the property in Ellsworth will remain in the
family, however I have heard from a member of this list who is interested in
the transmitters. Perhaps WM will live on at a new QTH !
Reports welcome!
I will pass the info on to Bill's wife, I'm sure that she will be happy to
hear it!
