PCI sound cards with a sample rate of 96k (able to display signals up to
48kHz) are easily had in the $30 range with free shipping from amazon.com.
I know because I just bought one for my 2nd computer (soundblaster audigy
or somesuch). Laptops are a bit more problematic, but I believe there are
some nice USB sound cards out.
