Years ago, I had a set of Altec Lansing PC speakers, now lost in the mists
of time, that had two 3.5mm stereo audio inputs on the back of the
subwoofer. The speakers would mix the sound of the two inputs, so that you
could hear two different audio sources simultaneously. I have owned at
least two other sets of computer speakers since then. While both of them
had 3.5mm "auxiliary" input ports, whenever you plugged anything into the
auxiliary port, you no longer heard audio from the main input.
I have limited desk space, and I run two different computers. It would be
very nice to be able to connect the two computers, which are themselves
connected to two different receivers, into one set of PC speakers, and have
the audio mixed together so as not to have to switch between one or the
other.
Found this little device today:

It can be use actively or passively, and is powered through a usb port.
Amazon.com has it with free shipping, and it received good reviews.
The only thing that would make it better would be individual volume
controls on the unit itself, but that's no biggie as that can be controlled
through Windows.
