David,

Thank you for bringing this product to our attention.

I recently (within the last six months) had Kiwa Electronics custom build a
two port splitter/combiner with a frequency response of 1.5 kHz to 2.0
MHz. I have been extremely pleased with the Kiwa unit, and have been using
it to use the same active whip antenna with two different receivers.

The unit you linked has a narrower frequency response (which may be a good
thing if you have no interest in receiving above 500 kHz), twice as many
output ports, and appears to have a built in amplifier to eliminate the
inherent loss in a passive device. The Kiwa unit I had built is completely
passive, goes lower and higher in frequency, has greater port to port
isolation (if I remember correctly), and has an inherent 6dB loss from the
input port to the two output ports. Also, it appears to me that the Kiwa
unit, being passive, would allow you to use two different antennas with one
receiver, while the Stridsberg unit, having an active amp, would only be
intended to be used as a splitter.

The unit you linked appears to be solidly built. I would wonder if, since
it has an active amp, it is able to be easily opened up and repaired by the
end user should a failure happen? Hopefully, it's not "potted" like some
European devices I have purchased in the past.
