Took advantage of today's low noise levels to try to snag both WMS and SIW
on the same screen for the first time this fall, and more or less succeeded.
This capture starts before sunset and ends somewhat afterward. The deep
fade in WMS occurred just a few minutes after sunset, in fact.
I'm not sure what to make of the SIW signal...whether there was keying
difficulty in that one W where the dashes run together, or what. But it was
nice to see them both at the same time again, in any case.
Had a pretty productive afternoon on HiFER watch as well. At the 22 m
watering hole, the SIWs were stronger than I've seen them in a couple of
weeks. MP was OK, but Codar seemed to be especially bad right about that
spot. EH was fair, but faded quite a lot (came in quite a bit better around
8 o'clock tonight, actually), and NC was only visible a small part of the
time, which is unusual. Moving away to hear whomever I could find in CW, I
had no luck at all with WV, which is also unusual. But MTI came in fine
several times, GNK made it through a few times, AJO was present but hard to
copy complete letters through the Codar racket (Argo's NDB mode showed the
DAID clearly), I managed one letter at a time from SZX, and FRC was in the
clear for one or two letters at a time.
