[Lowfer] remote "natural radio" receiver

That is actually a great idea. That way I could keep the battery in my
house, where it would stay warm, and charge it when not listening.

Unfortunately, I walked around the property yesterday with one of Steve
McGreevy's WR-3s, and was amazed at the level of hum, even when I was
50-75' from the house or any power lines. I also quickly remembered
something that I had forgotten (because of the very effective noise
blankers in my LF receivers), my neighbor's electric fence, which causes a
very loud "popping" or "clicking" sound about once a second. So the further
I get from the house, the less hum there is but the closer I get to the
electric fence, lol.

So anyway, it's probably not worth doing, given the level of hum present.

Too bad Edison didn't win the "war of the currents". ;-)

Oh, thanks for the links.
