Either it's OK, or the cut coax just happened to be the right length to make
a very good radiator at 22 m! <g>

>>137 seems very stable here.

I imagine it is. The static level on 137 kHz rose last night way out of
proportion to the wavelength. Granted, 185 was noisy enough, but not nearly
as much as 137. And when I tired of trying to imagine order out of the
randomness on the Argo window and went to 495 kHz, I was expecting the worst
there too, but was pleasantly surprised. I wonder if the spectral
distribution of noise from tropical storms is different from the storms that
swirled around the edges of our hot high pressure dome all summer.

Haven't been out to the field to look today yet. With daytime temperatures
below 80 degrees F for the first time in months, I have opened up the house
to be able to work on my long overdue buffer amplifier, soon to be inserted
between my antenna and receiver to (hopefully) cure the impedance mismatch I
have endured for so long, and to eventually allow me to run multiple
receivers simultaneously.

John
