[Lowfer] Subharmonics of 1610 kHz

Many years ago I used to listen to shortwave broadcasts on a table AM/FM 
radio to which I'd coupled a longwire by wrapping the end around the 
ferrite.  What had happened was that I was now presenting HF frequencies 
to the mixer and it was doing harmonic mixing making a number of the 
stronger shortwave broadcasts on 49/31 meters, etc. quite audible across 
the AM BCB.

It could be that this was occurring due to a nearby HF station's RF 
getting into the car radio - but it would have to be *very* nearby:  
Perhaps a perusal of QRZ would be in order.
