[Lowfer] How do I set RF Gain for maximum sensitivity

Reducing the RF gain will mess up the AVC. While my TS50 lacks an RF
gain experience with my Pegasus and Elektor SDR indicate best reception
with RF gain at max. Dave WA5WKO found the same with his TS430.
Another factor is the AVC rate, My TS50 for instance sets the avc at
slow on USB and fast on CW. Same with Daves TS430. We have found the
rigs work better on fast avc when doing beacon work. A static crash
might take the rec a second or more to recover on slow avc(SSB) but
immediate on CW setting . For years I ran my rec on usb and did the
mental subtraction for the 800hz off set. I now use CW mode and the
offset is built into my rec, I now set the rec freq and use the 800 hz
default on ARGO and SPECTRAN. For the right hand calibration I subtract
800hz and enter that number.
