[Lowfer] Noisy ( ie : washing machine )

I had never entertained the thought that my washing machine could be a noise source .... UNTIL; a few days ago...
I have one of the newer, fang-dangled, computer controlled washers, and I saw it with my own eyes on the display,
as well as heard it thru the speakers... I was monitoring on 2200 meters, and saw a really weired looking signal pattern
on the screen... I thought that I had never saw a signal pattern like that before, and wondered what it was...
Turned out to be the washer... as soon as it stopped; I noticed the interference changed patterns.. It didn't completely
go away; it just " de-intensified ".... I unplugged it from the wall, and " Wah-Lah " interference GONE : Now ain't that
somethin ??? Oh; and the manufacturers instruction manual emphasizes in big bold letters; Once plugged into the outlet,
do not unplug the washer, because it somehow messes up the onboard control circuitry... The manual does state that in
the event of a power failure; the recommended procedure is to unplug the washer for 30 minutes, and then plug it back in...

I never really realized what a nuisance that noise can be until I became " hooked " on low frequency radio ...

>>>Sounds like my neighbors are washing their clothes with all the musical
>>>variable ac noise - appers to be only a monthly event :-))

So, there is something to be said for having less than clean neighbors after
all...
